Using camper-stops is part of the essence of motorhoming.
You can have riverside views of the Rhine, vineyard
stays complete with free tour and tasting, tow path
locations on the Canal di Midi, stay right next to the
Mediterranean and a whole host of places where there
are simply no "caravan sites". Their locations
usually provide easy access to the local town and amenities,
so additional transport is not needed. Camper-stops
are generally exceedingly cheap or free, so you will
only have to use the book twice to regain its cost.
Motorhome stopovers
are called aires de service in France, Stellplatz
in Germany , area di sosta in Italy , bobils in
Norway but are known as camper stops accross Europe
. They range from town carparks, remote or beach
side locations and vineyards all provide overnight
parking exclusively for motorhomes and campervans.
Even if you choose not to stay the
night, the book allows you to quickly find the
motorhome parking available in each town. Unlike
previous guides such as Reise mobil Bord atlas
stellplatz and le Guide Officiel des Aires de
Services Camping-car this one is multilingual
with information in English, German, French and
Italian relying on simple pictogrms to convey
the basic information. |

The information includes; costs, if any but commonly
€2 in France for water from Euro Relis motorhome
service points, basic directions, GPS coordinates and
overview maps showing their locations. Key tourist information
and the location of the local office, any local events
such as market days and festivals are also included.
There are plenty of colour pictures making it easy to
find the aire and appreciate the locality. The guide
is in four languages, and has an advantage as you can
ask other motorhomers or locals for directions or opinions
without having to speak their language, you simply need
to show them the book.

Inside the Guide
Those motorhomers who enjoy wild camping or free camping
(we call it free-parking) will find CamperStop Europe
very useful as it contains plenty of places to dump
and replenish water supplies for free. 'We just
wish we'd had it years ago.' Said Meli George, co-author
of Go Motorhoming Europe. 'It would have saved fuel,
time and arguments. I remember driving round and round
Florence trying to find a camper-stop using German directions.
It was 30 degrees and we went round about five times.
Eventually we gave up and booked into a campsite which
was as level as the side of a mountain and cost €28
per night! There is no-way we could have afforded to
visit Italy without using camper-stops called area di
sosta as all the caravan sites we visited cost between
€20-€30. In my experience camper-stops are
very difficult to find if you don't have a publication,
and now there is one with English, I hope that more
British motorhomers will have the confidence to try
camper-stops.
Camperstop POI downloads
We have tested a Nuvi 350 extensively in Brittany and
Normandy and can confirm that the Camperstop POI’s
are about 90-95% accurate. The publisher remotely loaded
the coordinates.
We have stoped selling GPS machines simply because
it was not cost effective.
Download Problems
You can download the POI from the publishers website
as advertised in the guide. We cannot suport you, should
you have problems please contact the publisher direct.
